NFL Week 14

Drew Brees & company slip by the Falcons to stay unbeaten in week 14

Been A while since we got some good football numbers in, but the end of the season nears and playoffs are upon us.

Browns-13, Steelers-6 : In possibly the worse game of the year, the NFL defending Champs reign over the Cleveland Browns would be ended on Thursday night. The Steelers could not convert o n 3rd down and Browns specialty assassin Josh Cribbs led the team with 200 all purpose yards. Ben Roethlisberger’s pass on fourth-and-6 was batted away with 1:48 remaining and the Steelers trailing 13-6. The Browns were then able to run out nearly the rest of the clock en route to the upset win. Looks like the Steelers return to the playoffs are done for.

Saints-26, Falcons-23: Once again the Saints march on to the beat of the unbeaten but only to escape by the skin of their teeth for the 4th time in a row. Falcons backup QB Chris Redman stepped up and didn’t turn the ball over and helped ATL put up a fight. The Saints were efficient on third down, finishing 8 of 12 on that crucial down. They converted seven straight at one point, and that allowed New Orleans to control the tempo and find a comfort zone. They clinched the division and possibly home field with at win. Sad to say for the rest of the NFC

Ravens-48, Lions-3: FMFL (f*ck my football life) This is a str8 whooping. the score says it all. The ravens rushed for over 300 yds on theses guys Sunday afternoon. DAMNNNNNN! The Lions have 1 bright spot in WR Calvin Johnson. Other than that, they should forfeit the rest of their season for being unable to compete

Packers-21, Bears-14: Jay Cutler was back to his usual antics on Sunday with a couple interceptions… whats new. With QB Aaron Rodgers doing little through the air, Packers RB Ryan Grant picked up the slack. Grant rushed 20 times for 137 yards and two touchdowns for his third 100-yard game in 2009. The total puts Grant over 1,000 yards (1,068) for the second straight season. He set the tone against Chicago by scoring on a 62-yard run on Green Bay’s first play of the game. The Pack will not go down without a fight. are they foreal? hmmmmm

Texans-34, Seahawks-7: This was a beat down of all sorts, big plays and more big plays. Texans WR Andre Johnson had a monster game, hauling in 11 passes for 193 yards and two touchdowns, including a 63-yard scoring grab in the opening moments to get Houston rolling. WOW! coach Holmgren is on the hot seat right about now.

Colts-28, Broncos-16: WR Brandon Marshall broke the NFL record for most receptions in a game with 21 catches for 200 yds…. the downside is Peyton Manning is too good at what he does to lose. Colts TE Dallas Clark caught his third touchdown of the game with 2:25 remaining to give Indianapolis a 28-16 lead. Guess its time for the Colts to start thinking playoffs…. PLAYOFFS???

Dolphins-14, Jaguars-10: Ricky Williams grinded out tough yards for the Dolphins, rushing 28 times for 108 yards and a touchdown. It was his 12th touchdown this season. The Jaguars were just 3-for-14 on third down and finished with seven three-and-outs. That’s the Jags season in a bag.

Bills-16, Chiefs-10: Looks like firing coach Dick Jauron was healthy for Buffalo. The Bills finally got the production they’ve been looking for from their running back tandem of Fred Jackson and Marshawn Lynch. Neither back made it into the end zone, but they combined for 216 total yards.

Vikings-30, Bengals-10: The Nation is still not sold on the Bengals….perfect example why. QB Carson Palmer was held to only 90 yards passing. No playoff caliber team plays that way. Ocho Cinco was nowhere to be found. Vikes CB Antoine Winfield played his 1st game since week 6 and finished with 9 tackles a forced fumble and harassed every ball carrier with hit stick like tackles.

Patrios-20, Panthers-10: A banged up Tom Brady (ribs & hand) Played through the pain in a dear life win againts Carolina. Panthers never capitalized on 3 New England turnovers but did not cash in. Patriots kicker Stephen Gostkowski’s 47-yard field goal gave New England a 10-point lead with 4:01 remaining. The Panthers turned the ball over on downs on the following drive, allowing New England to run out the clock. Pats are still down in the division with losses to MIA .Can they make a push for the post season?

Jets-26, Biccaneers-3: Sheesh….The Tampa Sorrow continues at Raymond James stadium. Great weather and bad hometown football. The first of Tampa Bay’s six first downs came on an unnecessary roughness penalty with 9:18 remaining in the third quarter. No offense what so ever. With Kellen Clemens making his first start since Week 17 of 2007, the Jets got a much-needed boost from Jones. New York’s workhorse carried the ball 24 times for 99 yards and scored both of New York’s touchdowns. They had to knock the dust of the back-up. LOL!

Titans-47, Rams-7 : LMAO! sorry St. Louie. Some guys are not cut out for the football world except for RB Stephen Jackson who is the heart and soul or a heartless Rams Team…get it? Titans RB Chris Johnson scored his third touchdown. Johnson’s lunge across the goal line gave the Titans a 33-0 lead with 2:08 remaining in the third quarter.

Redskins-34, Raiders-13: In a “pride” game the dead skins show some life. The Raiders had more penalty yards (108) than rushing yard (65). That is not a good combination for a club that fancies itself a power running team, which likes to keep games close and win in the fourth quarter. Ehhh, guess this was a “theres always next season” game

Chargers-20, Cowboys-17: he Cowboys slippery December woes keep rolling on as they Take a loss to a red hot 8 game winning streak San Diego Chargers ball club. Kicker Nate Kaeding nailed a 34-yard field goal to give the Chargers a 20-10 lead with 1:56 remaining. The Cowboys scored a TD on the ensuing possession but couldn’t recover the onside kick with 2 seconds left. Romo and dem boys better get it together because the division is slowly slipping away.

Eagles-45, Giants-38: s usual in this high scoring division rivalry. Eli Manning took to the air for more than 390 yds passing and 3 td’. That wasn’t enough for the Eagles High flyin offense with Desean Jackson Cathching 60 yd bombs and Returning punts like a mad man. Mike Vick even cashed in on some pay dirt with a rushing TD out of the wildcat formation. Game was over when the Eagles Ran it down the field with Leonard Weaver for the finishing TD to put them up 2 scores. Eli and company tried for a desperation drive which ended in a fumble recovery by the eagles with 20 sec. in the clock.

49ers-24, Cardinals-9: turnovers, turnovers, turnovers was the name of the game in this Monday night division beatdown and 6 diff cardinals committed them. Credit the 9ers defense for stepping and laying some vicious hits all through the game and not letting the defending NFC champs get comfy. Frank Gore ran over the Cardinals and helped the 49ers milk the clock with the lead. He finished with 167 yards rushing and one touchdown on 25 carries. Any hope of the Desert birds’ chances of winning was ended on a 4th quarter fumble by Anquan Boldin… the 9ers are still alive being that they r 4-1 in the division…its about to get interesting
